Itinerary
Board the Radiance of the Seas and settle into your Inside cabin. The ship departs at 4:00 PM.
The culture of Astoria embraces both its seafaring blue-collar trade history and the burgeoning arts scene that draws artisans and creators alike. Stroll through downtown past the boutique shops, hip restaurants and museums. Check out the Oregon Film Museum housed in the old Clatsop County Jail — this is the spot where the opening chase scene from the Steven Spielberg's cult class "The Goonies" was filmed — and the Captian George Flavel House, a meticulously maintained American Queen Anne-style mansion. Cruise to Astoria and head to Fort Stevens National Park to see the Civil War-era fortifications and canoe on Lake Coffenbury.
California's City by the Bay is a melting pot of cultures and natural beauty waiting to be explored. Stroll Fisherman's Wharf and see the sea lions gathered to soak up the sun at Pier 39. Cruise to San Francisco and take the ferry out to Alcatraz to learn about the history of one of the nation's most infamous prisons — the ride offers some of the best views of the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. Or explore one of San Francisco's unique neighborhoods: Head to the Mission and fuel up on house-roasted pour-over coffee as you peruse the hip bookstores and record shops. Or check out the impressive Palace of Fine Arts, surrounded by waters frequented by ducks, geese and swans.
Located off the coast of California, Catalina Island is a little paradise, perfect for a day of unwinding and exploring. Everything is within walking distance, so have fun with the family exploring the town of Avalon or grab your hiking shoes and hit the trails. If you're looking to relax by the seaside, head to Descanso Beach Club, which is considered the nicest beach on the island, or set sail on a catamaran to circle the island and take it all in.
Known for its year-round near-perfect temperatures and pristine beaches, San Diego offers adventure for travelers of all stripes. Visit San Diego and explore the city's vibrant art scene: Check out a local film festival, or catch a Shakespeare performance at the Old Globe Theatre in Balboa Park. After you get your creative fix, discover the city's rich military history at the USS Midway Museum. If physical activity is more your speed, catch some waves at La Jolla Beach, one of the country's best surf spots. Then pop over to nearby La Jolla Cove, where you can see seals and sea lions lounging in the California sunshine.
After disembarking, check into the Hilton San Diego Bayfront.
